Story
The Warren Ellis 5 is an electric 5-string instrument built for players who don’t want their ideas limited by tradition. Tuned CGDAE by default, it opens the door to fifths-based thinking while staying immediately playable for musicians coming from wildly different backgrounds.
Classically trained players are drawn to the familiar logic of fifths tuning, finding new freedom in wide intervals, linear voicings, and orchestral range. Banjo players feel right at home too, using the extra string to expand melodic runs, drones, and rhythmic patterns beyond traditional constraints. And for guitarists, especially those chasing raw, riff-driven energy, the Warren Ellis 5 can be approached like a Keefcaster: tuned open, hit hard, and played with swagger.
It’s not about what it’s supposed to be. It’s about what you make it do!
