Eastwood BL-24 Electric Guitar

Exceptionally rare, and decades ahead of its time, the Bill Lewis Custom that inspired the Eastwood BL-24 has become one of rock history’s most elusive instruments. Only a small number were ever made, with surviving examples now commanding prices well into the tens of thousands.

The design is perhaps most famously connected to David Gilmour. While touring Canada with Pink Floyd in 1970, Gilmour visited Bill Lewis’s Vancouver guitar shop and tried one for himself. Clearly impressed, he acquired his own shortly afterward, and later used it during the recording of Dark Side of the Moon. While Gilmour is most closely associated with his black Strat, this guitar's full two-octave range granted the necessary access for the soaring final section of Pink Floyd’s “Money” solo.

The BL-24 captures the original’s adventurous spirit and defining character while introducing thoughtful refinements where modern construction offers a clear advantage. Its detachable padded cover has been replaced with a clean, traditional back, meaning no snaps to loosen, padding to wear or panel to replace. Modern neck-through construction, a tone-chambered mahogany body and unrestricted access to all 24 frets create a responsive, sustaining instrument built for soaring lead work. Custom blade humbuckers deliver powerful, articulate tones, while split-coil controls reveal a brighter, more cutting side. Included is a dual-action truss rod for precise, dependable adjustment... something the originals notably lacked.

Now funding through Guitstarter, the BL-24 is a refined, road-ready revival that brings this extraordinary design out from behind the glass and back into the hands of players.
