Story
Crafted during a brief run of roughly two years, the Firstman Liverpool hollowbody guitars emerged from the workshop of Kazuo Morioka: a brilliant Japanese designer and electronics innovator who had cut his teeth at Kawai and Teisco before embarking on his own project. The Liverpool wore bold lines and a accentuated violin-esque body, making it stand out in an era dominated by copies and convention. Fewer than 200 were ever made, and original examples are now prized finds among collectors and players who hunt for the unexpected in vintage gear.
Played by artists like Tsunaki Mihara of the Blue Comets, whose performances in the late ’60s helped define the sound of Japanese rock and surf scene, these guitars weren’t just visually striking - they could bark with surfy shimmer or bloom into warm, woody tones with surprising depth for a fully hollow instrument.
Today, that same blend of personality, tone, and artistry inspires our tribute to this elusive classic. The Eastwood Firstman Liverpool pays tribute to the originals in great detail, from its fully bound hollowbody construction to its vintage-style staple humbucker pickups, which have carefully been chosen to capture the warm, woody voice and unmistakable character of the originals. It comes standard with a classic trapeze tailpiece for players who prefer a pure, no-nonsense feel, while an optional Bigsby vibrato is available for those who want to add expressive shimmer and vintage flair.
