Meet the Dealer: South Austin Music, Texas
Austin, TX, has one of the most vibrant music scenes in America - and it's no coincidence that they're supplied with so many awesome music shops, of which South Austin Music is one of the best.
Few cities in the world can claim to have a music scene as good, as vibrant, as Austin, Texas. No wonder Austin's official slogan is The Live Music Capital of the World, with a live music scene with more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city, and world-famous festivals such as Austin City Limits and South By Southwest.
For this reason, it's understandable the city has some great guitar shops there, including a really fantastic Eastwood Guitars dealer - South Austin Music.
Like so many of our favourite dealers, the shop started small, fruit of the passion of one person. It was founded by Bill Welker, who had worked at a music store in the 80's while pursuing a BBA, before moving to Austin in 1986 to start South Austin Music. The business has grown into its current size over the years with an ever changing vast collection of new, used, and vintage instruments amps and pedals.

The store proudly serves Austinites and touring musicians and offers complete guitar and amp repair. South Austin Music won BEST Music Store and BEST Instrument Repair at the Austin Music Awards last month. They are well known for their professional friendly service and and eclectic array of cool electric and acoustic guitars - including a great selection of Eastwood models, of course!
We asked shop founder Bill Welker to share with us a few words about what he likes about Eastwood Guitars, and this is what he had to say:
"Are you kidding?? Michael Robinson has accomplished the very essence of what it takes to replicate and manufacture the not so popular, not so playable, but super desirable instruments from yesteryear. Buy an old Airline, Mosrite, Supro etc... etc... and you're lucky if it plays well at all. Buy a new Eastwood or Airline and you've got a cool, functional guitar that's quality built for most likely a third of the price of the real deal. Now that's what I call giving your customers what they want and need! Job WELL DONE! We are proud to be a stocking dealer and happy to try to keep up and stock the new designs.
