As fans of the unconventional, we've always been struck by the wide array of guitars in Rory Gallagher's collection. But there's one that's always stood out to us... it's a bit of a mystery guitar, and who doesn't love a good mystery?

The story goes that Rory co-designed this guitar dubbed the "Rory Gallagher Model" - completed and delivered to him in 1975. Aside from that, all we really know is what can be found in photographs and what little documentation exists. One thing we can say for sure, however, is that this thing looks killer, and there should be more of them!

The Eastwood RG Special will be a no-nonsense raw tone machine with its single humbucking pickup set into a solid Alder body. This design along with its simple wrap-around bridge and straight-ahead controls will leave no distractions between you and pure resonant bliss. If you're after something that'll make you stand out from the crowd, while bringing things back to the basics with all the familiarity of a Les Paul JR., this is the one for you.

But wait... what's the toggle switch for?

There's just one last detail we need to sort out, and that's the toggle switch. Given the lack of documentation about this guitar, we have no clue what its original function was. We could take the easy route and just decide to make it a coil-split or a treble boost, but we thought it would be WAY more fun to let you help solve the mystery. Do you know what the original did? What do you think it should be? Drop us a line, and let us know!

UPDATE: We've landed on a final spec for the switch. It will be a three-way selector with the following options:

    UP: Single Coil
    MIDDLE: Humbucker, in Parallel
    DOWN: Humbucker, in Series

    Planned Features & Specs
    • BODY: Solid Alder
    • NECK: Set Maple

    • PICKUP: Single Open-Coil Humbucker
    • SWITCHING: Three-Way: Single Coil, Humbucker/Parallel, Humbucker/Series
    • CONTROLS: 1 Volume, 1 Tone

    • Planned Weight: 7.0 lbs (More Info on Weight)

Every day we receive suggestions for new models from guitar players like you. We take the best ideas and turn them into projects.

These ideas are uploaded here where you can reserve one with a small deposit. A reasonable funding goal sets the project in motion.

Once the project reaches its funding goal, we go to production. When your instrument is ready, you pay the balance, and we ship!

For a while now we’ve been looking for a better way to bring custom guitars to our customers. Each and every day we receive dozens of requests for customizations and special models. While some of the ideas are downright fantastic, we just can’t create them all.

While Crowdfunding initiatives are nothing new, this model is new to the guitar industry.  It’s a model we believe in, and believe our customers will appreciate and take part in. This will allow us to build more of those customer-suggested models and the best part of all – you save money every step of the way.

    How Does This Save Money?

Because we get a clear picture of initial production and setup costs, we can better manage expenses at these early stages. It removes various levels of financial risk in the manufacturing process and therefore the savings can be passed on to you.

    Why Do Things This Way?

Pre-Orders help to ensure we have the model/color you want as opposed to our standard short production runs where we often sell out quickly. Or the flip side, where we get stuck with a model/color that nobody wants, which wastes money.

    Can We Submit Ideas?

Absolutely! Please drop us a line if you have a suggestion for a new model. If we think it will find enough pre-order customers, we will post it and give you the tools to help promote it within your social media networks.

The deposit will be charged when you complete checkout. We will invoice the balance when your guitar is ready.

Deposits range from $100-$300USD, depending on the final retail price of the instrument.

The funding goal is determined based on the minimum quantity of deposits required to go forward with product.

Of course! You will receive a full refund if the project goal is not met within the funding period.

Unless a promotion mentions a Custom Project specifically, any discount offer is not valid toward one of these instruments. However, if you back two projects, the deposit for your third one's on us!

Production schedules vary depending on the instrument. An ETA will be shown on each project's page, and you'll be updated along the way. Your remaining balance will be invoiced when the instrument is ready to ship to you.

Yes, projects are fully refundable until we commit to production with our manufacturing facilities (typically 7-10 days after funding closes). After that time, the pre-order deposit is non-refundable.

We offer international shipping on any successfully funded model. Shipping within continenal USA, the UK, and within the EU is FREE. Shipping elsewhere varies depending upon your address, and will be charged when making your final payment. For pricing, please view our shipping page.

If you do not like the item once you’ve received it – for any reason – you can return it for a full refund LESS your initial pledge amount, or you can return it for a full store credit INCLUDING the initial pledge amount.
