In the early 1980's, not long before the guitar world was taken over by super-strats, pointy guitars and shredding virtuosos, the spotlight was on the opposite side of the stage. With the emergence of affordable synths and effects, Dance and New Wave music were all the rage. And as we all know, the beating heart of any good '80s tune is a damn groovy bassline.
So, what does a manufacturer do to get their bass into the hands of some of the most influential players of the time? You give them exactly what they need.
The SB line of basses that came out of the Matsumoku factory in Japan are considered the "holy grail" of Japanese basses. While their neck-through construction and solid ash body wings were selling points all on their own, it was their unique 6-way tone control that solidified the SB-1000 as their flagship model. It's no surprise that legendary bassists Cliff Burton, John Taylor, Rudy Sarzo, Jack Bruce and Marcus Miller all used one of these basses to create some of the most recognizable riffs in history.
There have been many attempts over the years to breathe new life into this bass, but we figured it was time to give it a proper Eastwood revival. Our version will come complete with neck-through construction and 6-Way "Attack" selector.
